The reason for this is because the Internal Heater in the compressor is active to keep oil warm for lubrication purposes. Plus, the active main control board plays a role in how this unit draws power even when not calling. Despite this being said we have seen a 40% drop in customer’s electric bill when switching from a 14-seer unit to ours.
