Units that run in heating during startup is usually caused by incorrect setup of the electronic menu on the thermostat.
1) Make sure the Tstat is wired according to the instructions in the writing diagram that matches the system components.
2) Go to the thermostat's setup menu and select heat pump. (For Honeywell Thermostats, refer to the Honeywell Thermostat Setup Page.
The Ecoer unit has the reversing valve energized in cooling so need the unit will run in heating as if the Tstat is not setup for heat pump equipment.
